I worked in Advertising at the Irish Examiner many moons ago, so one would presume I have seen and used every sales trick and advertising ploy in the book. But no.... I am an advertiser's dream. When I see a new product advertised in a magazine, I can't get out to buy it quick enough.
When I came across these two mini samples pictured above from '100% natural' County Limerick based brand Nia Beauty at the start of the Summer, I was skeptical as I usually associate 'natural' creams as lacking in providing the full treatment I need for my combination skin. Nia products are 100% free from chemicals, preservatives and emulsifiers but for me, these products have an edge over other natural brands, being closer to salon stocked brands, minus the scary ingredients.
I popped this facial moisturiser and lip balm into my hospital bag as I headed in to give birth and have not looked back since. The moisturiser is luxurious so is more suitable for dry skin or as a lovely nighttime treatment for normal skin. I found it too heavy for under daytime makeup but it can be mixed with water to lighten it for daytime wear. The spa-like smell is so beautiful when you apply it that it's the perfect nighttime ritual and I haven't had any blemishes since I have started using it over a month ago. The lipbalm at first glance is a different consistency to the more petroleum based ones we are used to and it applies white in colour so you need to be careful to not apply in a heavy handed way. But it is the perfect product to pop in your clutch or purse and apply on the go as it doesn't leave any greasy residue and your long locks don't get stuck in it on a windy day :).
I don't have much time for beautifying myself at the moment with my 3 week old baby and I'm stuck in a bubble of night feeds and reduced sleep, so finding nice, non harsh products allows me to keep on top of my regime without fuss. The icing on the cake?...They're Irish made so you're supporting local!
