Fashion Week Series: Devilish Designs

Devilish Designs opened 2 years ago at the English Market. Owner Gina Carley is a fantastic advert for her store's style and her inspiration comes from prints and fabrics first, ''I started out making dresses and accessories 6 years ago. A print on a dress will always catch my eye first ,I mostly love the 50's, this era inspires me everyday, from fashion to interior design, movies from that era, cars and 50's music. '' Add a strong rockabilly influence into the mix and you have the unique collections available at Devilish Designs.

Gina's favourite looks for winter are lush checks that she has arriving instore with super cute wiggle skirts to be worn with thick tights and brogues. Also, stunning 1930's style satin gowns mixed with faux fur stoles for super glamour .
Gina says ''Cork women are super stylish, so willing to mix it up and try new things. I have all age groups coming into the shop and they know exactly what they want and what suits them which makes my job a lot easier''.

Cornstore Fashion

The thing about MC'ing so many fashion shows at this time of year is seeing so much gorgeous stock from boutiques and needing it all in my life! On Wednesday night I presented the sell-out Cornstore fashion evening in aid of Autism Cork. Clothes were from Blush in Douglas, Saville's new made to measure bespoke menswear and Vanilla in Fermoy with stunning contemporary neckpieces from Azure.

Hair Overhaul

Pregnancy wrecked havoc with my hair so this week I headed along to the hair stylists for Mercedes-Benz MSL Fashion Week Cork at Peter Mark for some serious hair help. On entering the Douglas Court salon I was immediately struck by the really cool new decor which was reminisant of a high end London salon straight out of a gorgeous Pinterest picture. Most impressively, they were open on a Sunday so no more missing a valuable day off on a Saturday getting your hair updated!

My stylist, Nicola Drummond, carried out the consultation, gave me great advice and did my colour, cut and blowdry right through. She advised I nourish my hair with a treatment that still has my hair feeling like silk- Kerastase Vita-Ciment and Concentre Oleo-Fusion, protein and a moisturizing treatments. I was almost asleep at the basin with the comfy massage chair and lovely warm towel Nicola placed under my neck for extra comfort.

I was lucky enough to get a sneak preview of the hair for Fashion Week along with some great hair tips straight off the catwalks from NYFW & LFW.

Ponytails are back and sleeker than ever with deep side partings and a fashionable twist from the norm:

My favourite ponytail is this pictured below, pinned in at the end of the bottom hairline.

Plaits are always chic from braids to fishbone and thicker structure plaits like this runway example:

The hottest new hair I loved from Perer Marks style tips was this look. Grown-up, sexy sleeked back hair but instead of pinning the ends up, they are left free and natural with a late 80s/90s inspiration.

Bobs are longer with more movement:

Upstyles are whimsical, romantic and free:

I can't wait to pop back for some pampering to Peter Mark and try out their new Boho Blowdry (pictured below). It's all about healthy hair that looks soft and natural. And thanks to Nicola, I'm on the way to getting my hair back on track with my gorgeous new blonde tones and smart cut xo

I can't believe my blog is a year old already. This time last year, I had returned from a great weekend in London where I had stayed in Shoreditch and been hugely inspired by the art and really cool street style I saw around the area, so after a year of people telling me I should start a fashion blog, I decided to do it. London to me was so fashion forward and I felt Ireland was very commercial in comparison so I decided to blog about all the things I loved and saw that weren't commercial in Ireland in the industry I have worked in for 18 years now - Fashion!

What excites me so much a year on is the emails I regularly receive from people in Asia, Australia, all over Europe - not just in my own country, looking for advice on careers in fashion, style tips and just general heartwarming emails of support.

Here is a taster of some great memories from my first blogging year in pictures. I have enjoyed it so much. Thank you all so much for all for following my busy life, your support the past 12 months has made me more confident to share my endeavors with you here. Here is to hopefully keeping you entertained over the next year and more. E xo
