My first port of call was to Moda in Mallow, County Cork. Stockists of some of my favourite lines such as Lennon Courtney, Maison Scotch, In Wear, Selected Femme and Joules, the Moda customer looks towards Olivia Palermo and Helen Mirren as their style idols, a great sign of the broad and loyal customer base the store caters for.
Proprietor Aoife Myler has been three and a half years dressing her customers and says that their fashion ethos is to sell customers wearable pieces that slot into your wardrobe that will work for you over and over again. Aoife enjoys dressing her stylish customers, noting that the Moda woman is a woman who is stylish everyday, be it on the school run or heading to a nice brunch...rather than occasional dressers.
Aoife's must have wardrobe buy for this season is a pair of leather skinnies and a kimono. The skinnies will also look great with an oversized jumper and the kimono with jeans and pumps. I was delighted to see they stock my trustee Vagabond brand of boots which I used have to go to Dublin to buy until now. These are the only boots I can vouch for that you could comfortably run a mile in...and still look stylish!
Moda is an high-end looking independent boutique with superior style and quality garments but their prices aren't as high as you might think. They give the high street a good run for their money and are well worth the shopping trip for something that hasn't been mass produced and will stay in your wardrobe longer than your impulse high street buys.
The gorgeous & versatile silk kimono I bought for my Autumn wardrobe
I loved this smart burgundy tweed Maison Scotch blazer & bag, also great with denims
The new Lennon Courtney line features the most amazing super high waisted wool skirts that will never date in your closet
Moda also stock beautiful childrenswear. Labels include Petit Bateau, Joules and Jellycat (see the dotie Jellycat bunny I got there that has become Erin's new BF)
